First Day at New Job

Today is my first day at my new job. I should be more excited about it but I'm not really. I'm going to miss sleeping in until 9am and leisurely drinking my coffee in my pjs. Now its waking up at 7:30 to drink coffee and make lunch to leave by 8:30.

I just want to be in bed where it is nice and warm. But that is just something to look forward to when I get home later.

Inspiration

I have one chapter written of my novel. Well the start of the first chapter. I know it needs more but I have a feeling more will come once I write more of it. More inspiration will come to me as I continue. I just wish I had more red wine. Red wine or white wine. Wine helps me think. Yesterday I worked on edits on the first chapter over wine. Now I need wine to help me get my head working to continue onto chapter two. Or I could do coffee but its really late to be drinking coffee.

Last night I was working on chapter one by candle light and drinking wine. I have to say it was pretty nice. Calming almost.

I also thought of naming a character after my grandmother. My grandmother was a wonderful person. It may take some time to create the perfect character that really and truly captures who she was.

This blog the best way for me to sort of figure out my next move for my novel. That is what I am trying to do right now. So I apologize for any babbling that I do now or in the future.

But I do have to thank my best friend/roommate and my mother for all their help so far and the future help that I have no doubt that they will provide. They are truly generous people.

just the beginning

I had the most amazing dinner tonight. I just wish I took a picture of it. I had a piece of steak cooked almost perfectly with caramelized onions. I will have dreams about that steak. But I need to focus on writing my novel. I am writing a book. I think it would be classified as a young adult fiction. Maybe a combination of The Hunger Games and Divergent. Maybe that could be my inspiration but after reading Divergent, I suddenly got inspired to finally start writing again. This evening I had the idea to have one of the characters be inspired by my grandmother. Her name was Virginia. She was the kindest person i have ever met. She was wonderful. I just need to create that really depicts the wonderfulness of my grandmother. I know it wont be easy but I am willing to take the risk.

Library cards & Snow days

Last night I stayed up a little later than I had planned. I just couldn't help it. Divergent is so good. It took an unexpected turn (I don't want to give anything away). I knew it would happen I just thought what was going to happen would have happened say in the next book. I just really want to know what happened to Tobias. So because I was so engrossed in this book I ended up falling asleep around 1am. The latest I had planned to stay up was midnight.

I have decided to not watch t.v. before bed, instead I will read. It helps that I just got my library card for DC so now I can get books anytime.
Maybe one day I will be like my wonderful roommate and become addicted to reading. Reading is definitely a better addiction than anything else. Obviously if I had to pick an addiction of my to write about it would be my addiction to bacon. I wish I could have it every day but if I did my sister would be worried that I was going to have a heart attack.

I think it would be perfect if I was laying on a beach some where tropical reading a book, drinking a fruity cocktail, and eating a plate of bacon. I would much rather be somewhere warm and tropical right now than in DC with all this snow. Don't get me wrong I like snow. But as I have gotten older, I have disliked snow more and more. In high school, we never had a snow day. If it did snow, I had to drive my sister's old beast of a Jeep instead of my classic BMW. Some kids I went to high school thought I was rich because I had 2 cars. But if they paid any attention, they should have noticed that those cars aren't in great condition.
In college, I remember only 2 snow days. The first one was either my Sophomore year or Junior year. Of course, it was during finals week. I was already done with my finals and I was just waiting for my sister and her friends to finish up with theirs. The snow delayed the final exams by a day. It was a snow day for pretty much everyone, except me, because I was done with finals and just ready to go home. The second was Senior year, and the only reason class was cancelled was because the President of the college slipped and fell on ice. I believe that was a day that I did not have class.

Snow days seem to happen more often in DC. Of course, it seems to me it is unnecessary to shut down everything if it snows a few inches. But I guess I won't complain if it means everyone gets a snow day. And who doesn't love a snow day?

Divergent

One of the things that I want to do to make my life a little better is to read more. Obviously I don't plan on reading as much as my roommate because if she had an addiction it would be reading. I think one of the main things that is holding me back from doing this is that I can get very bored from reading. I am currently reading the Divergent series by Veronica Roth.
Since I am almost done reading this amazing book, I want to get the next to in the trilogy. However, I really don't want to spend the money and am having trouble finding them to download. They have now made this book into a movie which won't be in theaters March 21, 2014.
Off to the library to freeze my ass off to go get Insurgent, the second book in the trilogy.
Wish me luck walking or taking the bus down there in the freezing cold.
